- The requirements for the TUP are reasonable, in fact most are already required and Vacation Rentals do them now.
- Every Vacation Rental that is legally operating, provincially registered and paying the MRDT should be given the opportunity to apply for and receive a TUP.
- Licensing is a better tool to manage Vacation Rentals and we will continue to advocate for it.
- The change needs to include a timeline for adjustment that allows for transition to the TUP and reflects the vacation rental season.
- A cap may be needed, but should be determined in a dedicated community process, after the new local and provincial rules have had some time to make an impact.
- If the process and rules are clear and the LTC follows them, the TUP, while unwieldy, can be a workable option.
- We need a clear process to ensure we can meet the potable water requirements (HISTRA is working to sort this out).
- The septic requirements need to be clearly defined and consider alternative systems (e.g. composting toilets). (HISTRA is working to sort this out)
- Expensive Lot and Site plans are not needed as there is nothing changing on the site and septic and water are approved separately. (HISTRA is looking for affordable options in case this remains a requirement)
- The application fee should be reasonable and consider the capacity of the owner to pay.
- It will be advantageous for owners to be able to demonstrate compliance with the current bylaws.
